Beyond the Sea

Xander woke up almost two hours before sunset. Slowly opening his eyes, he focused on the body draped over him. Angelus had entangled himself with the mortal while he slept. Xander scrunched his brow as he thought of the best way to untangle himself from the still sleeping vampire.

With his one free hand, Xander managed to take hold of Angelus' arm, the one that was resting heavily over Xander's shoulder and neck. He gently picked it up and moved it off him, carefully placing it on the bed. He tried to slide the rest of the way out of bed, but his legs were in a strange sort of knot with his lover's.

He pulled his legs up and out gently, freeing them. Angelus groaned in his sleep, then flipped over. Xander held his breath. When the vampire didn't wake up, he silently got out of bed and padded out of the room to the bathroom.

Closing the door half way behind him, Xander pulled off the Scooby Doo boxers he had been wearing. Glancing at the mirror, Xander ran a hand through his matted hair. He grabbed the dinosaur toothbrush from the holder, putting excessive amounts of toothpaste on the bristles.

Turning on the CD player that sat on a shelf above the medicine cabinet, Xander pushed play, making sure that the volume was low enough as to not wake Angelus. The familiar strains of Bobby Darin floated out, filling the small room. Xander began to quietly hum along to "Mack the Knife".

He turned the shower on, smiling when the water turned amazingly to just the right temperature. Stepping in and closing the curtain, Xander stuck the toothbrush in his mouth, and ducked his head under the stream. "Splish Splash" began to play, and Xander couldn't help but move with the music.

Finished brushing his teeth, Xander popped his arm out around the curtain, and tossed the toothbrush into the sink. Spitting the foam out of his mouth, Xander began to sing, quietly and slightly off key. As the song progressed, the volume of Xander's voice rose and he began to sing more and more off key.

A low growl rumbled deep in Angelus' throat. One arm flipped up to cover his eyes. He wasn't going to open his eyes. If he opened his eyes, that meant he was up and awake. And it was too early to be up and awake. How early was it anyway?

Peeking through one small slit, Angelus glanced at the clock and growled. A full hour and a half before sunrise. His face scrunched up as his mind finally focused on what had awakened him. Xander's voice. Xander's SINGING voice. The vampire's growl deepened as he threw off the covers.

"...Big bang, I saw the whole gang, dancing on my living room rug! Yeah, Flip flop, they was doing the bop, all the teens had the dancing bug!" Xander sang completely out of tune and way too loudly for the grumpy vampire. Getting out of bed, eyes narrowed, Angelus stomped out to the bathroom.

A wave of steam and the sound of Bobby Darin singing one of his more famous songs greeted him. He was also greeted with the sights and sounds of Xander. Not only was Xander singing very badly, he was flailing around in the shower. Angelus could only assume that he was dancing.

"...I was a rollin' and a strollin'! Reelin' with the feelin'! Movin' and a groovin'! Splishin' and a splashin'! YEAH!" As he heard his lover croon, Angelus felt his mood lift. He couldn't help but smile at the dancing fool in the shower.

Already naked, Angelus walked to the shower, opening the curtain and laughing at how Xander quickly stopped all movement as the cooler air hit his skin. Angelus noticed the slight blush as the younger male turned to face him.

Xander's hair was full of sudsy shampoo, and he held the shampoo bottle like a microphone. "D-dead Boy. Hey. You up?"

Angelus smirked. "No, I'm still sleeping. Oh, no, wait, I'm not sleeping and hmmm, Xander, can you venture a guess as to what woke me up?"

Xander smiled his "I'm so cute, look at me" goofy smile. "Horny desire?" Xander washed the soap out of his hair.

Angelus growled as he stepped into the shower. "Not quite. I was woken up by some...fool...singing quite loudly."

"I'm sorry? But now that you're here, you can get my back for me." He held out the soap to Angelus. Sighing, the vampire took the soap and moved closer to Xander. He began rubbing the soap on Xander's pale back and caressing his sides.

His hands moved in a rhythm. A rhythm set by the soft music playing in the background. "Dream Lover" was now playing, and Angelus let his eyes slip close. Xander's body moved with the rhythm as well, swaying slightly.

Removing his hands from the other man's back, Angelus pressed up against him, smiling wider as Xander leaned back against him, resting his head on Angelus' shoulder. Setting the soap on the ledge, the vampire slipped his arms around Xander's waist and began to sway with him, delighting in the feel of Xander's hot slippery back against him.

Xander's arms went back, wrapping behind both him and Angelus. He let his fingers run lightly over Angelus' firm ass. Letting out a heavy breath, Xander spoke, his voice low and quiet. "I love...Bobby Darin." Xander paused. "I'm glad you introduced me to his music. I can't believe I missed out on his music for so long."

Angelus' eyes opened; he knew what Xander was saying. "I'm glad you love him. He has a lot to offer...musically." He kissed Xander's neck, sucking lightly.

As the song changed, Angelus began to sing softly, directly into Xander's ear. "Somewhere, beyond the sea, Somewhere, waiting for me, My lover stands on golden sands, And watches the ships that go sailing." Surprisingly, Angelus had a nice singing voice. He, singing in the right key, continued to sing along with Bobby Darin.

"Somewhere, beyond the sea, He's there watching for me." Angelus smoothly changed the words to fit his love's gender. "If I could fly like birds on high, then straight to his arms, I'd go sailing. It's far beyond a star, It's near beyond the moon, I know beyond a doubt My heart will lead me there soon."

"We'll meet beyond the shore, We'll kiss just as before. Happy we'll be beyond the sea, And never again I'll go sailing!" Xander turned around in Angelus' loose yet tight embrace, burying his face in his chest. The two bodies continued to sway under the mist of the shower as the song slowly ended.

Xander tilted his head up as Angelus tilted his down, running his hands up and down Xander's now non-soapy, but still slick back. Their lips met. Xander's hands came up to run over his lover's chest.

Pulling back, Angelus grabbed his beloved's hand, examining them. "Xander, your fingers are all wrinkly. Like raisins. I think it's time to get out of the shower."

Xander began to protest. "But I like the shower."

"Come on." Angelus pulled him back slightly. "If you get out, I'll dry you off with one of those big, soft, fluffy towels I just bought." He smiled already knowing what Xander's reaction would be.

"Really? You'll dry me off?" Angelus nodded. Xander quickly brushed by him, hurrying out of the shower, then glared wildly at Angelus. "Well, come on, Dead Boy, I'm going to be dry before you even get out!"

Sighing once again, Angelus turned off the water, exited the shower, grabbed a towel and began to studiously dry Xander off, letting himself drip dry.
